Pinède

Pinède was born from my meeting with the cabinetmaker Thomas Pinsard and the memory of a Gascon for his grandfather using pine resin for caulking the region boats. Curious to exploit the sticky character of the pine resin and to renew its use of yesteryear, I developed an adhesive paste serving as an assembly system for the cabinetmaker. To refer to the raw universe of the forests of Gascony and reconnect materials to their cultural identity, the association of the pine essence with the asperities of the resin reminds us of the unity of the wood with the sap. The resin thus serves as a finishing touch to Thomas’s work, both as a keystone sticking and reinforcing the assemblies and as a decor offering an identity and a singular history to the object.
